As the founder of my local book club, I wanted to make your life easier when reading my book Preacherman in your book club. Here is a list of my Book Club Discussion Questions created to enrich your experience.
Book Club Discussion Questions
1. How is the title Preacherman a good fit for the book?
2. Charlie and Elroy had a strained relationship in the beginning. How do you think the
death of Charlie’s mother impacted their relationship and why?
3. Charlie grew up with the knowledge that he came from a “long line of conduits of the
Holy Spirit.” Do you think he benefited from this knowledge or that it made him feel
pressured to go into ministry?
4. How do you think his father’s ministry affected his attitude towards the church as a kid?
How do you think it impacted his decision to become a pastor?
5. Charlie loses his mother at a young age and then Abigail. How do you think those losses
changed Charlie and why?
6. Charlie had to forgive himself as well as others along the way. Were there specific
events that you felt eased him towards these conclusions? What are some examples?
7. What kind of influence did Piper have on Marianna? Do you think she would have had
the affair without Piper’s influence?
8. Did you feel sympathy or anger towards Marianna?
9. Contrast the relationship between Charlie and Elroy as opposed to his relationship with

for so long? How could she have handled it differently?
